I'm excited to announce the publication of Notes on Painting with Oils - my first self-publishing venture. Years of studying oil painting left me with a messy collection of notebooks and index cards. This book is an attempt to get those notes into some kind of order, making it easier to find what I need. It's most definitely not an oil painting bible but I hope it will provide a quick and easy reference tool for anyone who enjoys painting with oils.
As well as practical and creative checklists, there are tips and advice that I've garnered from a multitude of sources including gallery owners, art lecturers and competition judges, on what sells, how to frame your work and how to create your visual brand.
The companion volume, Painting with Oils - Art Journal and Logbook, is designed to help artists keep track of everything related to their work, including art expenses and sales, buyers, competition entries, commissions, colour notes, studio materials, exhibition submissions, gallery contacts and old and new artwork.
Both books are available online from The Great British Bookshop (https://www.thegreatbritishbookshop.co.uk/), priced at £9.99 for the Notes and £7.99 for the Journal.
And if you are thinking about publishing your own work, you might find my blog on self-publishing helpful.
